  About The Stylist

Linden Tyler Glavich began his career in the beauty industry during the mid-nineties as a hair model for Paul Mitchell. He would continue to work with Joico, Chi, and Pravana lines.

Glavich is now turning his focus to taking what he has learned and making it his own. With a brilliant attitude, practice and study, he is taking his skills and bringing them directly to his clients. Among his experiences, Glavich was a key Makeup and Hair Stylist for the movie, "Humboldt County" starring Fairuza Balk.

Recently, after a trip to Kentucky, Glavich became a Color Educator for Tressa Color Line.  He now educates other salons all over the states.

He spends his extra time donating to Relay for Life, as read about in The Eureka Reporter in November 2007. He has launched a campaign giving 10% of his earnings to fight cancer. He also has been seen fronting the fight against the sale of illegal handbags and other fake merchandise locally in his community. Glavich is always striving to learn or do his part.

This can be shown with his favorite quote, "Enhance Yourself."

Supporting cancer research one cut at a time

As this year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life rapidly approaches, area teams are ramping up fundraising efforts. In the same spirit, one Eureka man — independent of any relay team — is quietly clipping away for a cure. From July 4 until Sept. 1, cosmetologist Linden Glavich is donating 15 percent of what he earns providing salon services to Relay For Life.

“I’ve done Relay For Life for years,” Glavich said.

A ballet dancer since he was 5 years old, Glavich recalled being asked to perform with other dancers at Relay For Life’s Ceremony of Hope a few years back. The mother of a classmate of his who had cancer asked him to participate.

“I think it’s just a problem that’s touched everyone’s life in some way,” Glavich said, adding that he’s lost members on both sides of his family to cancer.

Unfortunately, when it came time to start fundraising for the relay last year, Glavich was unable to participate. When he found the same thing to be true this year, instead of sitting out, Glavich cooked up his solution.

And because he began spreading the word about his donation just at the beginning of July, he decided to extend his offer through Sept. 1 to increase his fundraising potential.

“He thought it was important to give back to the community,” said Mary Glavich, Linden’s mother and co-owner of Shear Designs.

Glavich modestly added that while 15 percent seems like it’s not that much, he believes it’s a simple way for his clients to donate and that funds will build up quickly. Almost everyone uses salon services, he pointed out.

As of last Monday, about 15 people had called and made an appointment. Many of his regular clients have been adding on extra services to help out.

While Glavich said he doesn’t have a set goal for the amount he’d like to raise, he did say he’s going at it wholeheartedly.

“Whatever I do, I give 100 percent to,” he said.

During the Fourth of July celebration and this month’s Arts Alive in Old Town Eureka, volunteers handed out about 700 cards encouraging people to support Relay For Life by paying Glavich a visit.

The young stylist has been volunteering through his mother’s service organization since he was a child.

“Now that I’m established, it’s my turn to do something,” Glavich said.
